-----
Write about conversations you overhear. Imagine the context and situation behind those conversations. Imagine what the people having the conversation are like. Imagine a completely different understanding of what they’re saying. Imagine the events leading up to that conversation.
-----
Write about people you see. What might they be feeling? What might their lives be like? Write about places you go. Who else has been there? What was their experience of that place?
-----
Write about the weather. How does it make you feel, physically and emotionally? Write about the events of your day or week. Write about your hopes and dreams. Write about your personal relationships. Write about things that make you happy and sad and hopeful and angry. Write about things you read.
-----
What are your plans for today? Are there any particular emotions connected with your plans? Explore them.
-----
A “present me” vs. “future me” chart, and how to get from one point to the other. Having a visual about where you want to be in the future is incredibly helpful and can give you an understanding of what you need to do on a day-to-day basis in order to become your ideal self.
-----
What’s holding you back. Whether it’s procrastination, lack of motivation, temptation, or anything else in your life, certain things are holding you back from achieving your goals and being satisfied with yourself at the end of the day. Recognize that though it won’t be easy, you need to eliminate these things from your life.
-----
Small bad habits. Write down things that may seems insignificant, but that you need to stop. Writing these down can help you remember to stop and catch yourself before you do them.
-----
Small good habits you need to start. I suggest mediation, exercise, and reading, to start. Getting into a productive and positive routine that works for you is really what self improvement is all about.
-----
Bucket list. Anything can go on there, from climbing a mountain to learning how to play the ukelele. As long as you think it’s an experience or challenge that will bring you joy, don’t be afraid to write it down. Instead of watching Netflix on a rainy day, do something on your bucket list.
-----
Dreams. Dreams can give you a lot of information about your unconscious thoughts and desires. Writing them down can help you make connections between them and determine if your unhappiness is due to an underlying issue.
Things that you absolutely love. For example, I love cold pools, San Francisco, hot chocolate, and stargazing. This is just a fun thing to do in order to find the little things that really make you happy.
-----
Bits of your creative work. Snippets of stories or doodles create a little inspiration to place to come back to whenever you’re in a funk. Let your thoughts flow and write or draw, disregarding perfection.
